When Did Cat Tattoos Become Stylish?

Jan 13 2010 Published by under Products

You may have heard the news this week about a Sphynx cat named Mickey that was subject to a three hour long tattoo session resulting in a pharaoh placed on his chest. How dreadful, now some may claim art and others abuse.

I don’t know about you but that had to hurt, even with anesthesia. I’ve never had a tattoo but I know people who have and they hurt after wards.

I wonder what Mickey was thinking when he woke up, probably hoping he had a bad dream. I imagine his skin was burning which made me think of cattle branding which isn’t stylish either.

Couldn’t the owner just bought Mickey a sweater?

Cages for small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs or ferrets have become quite upscale no longer do you have to settle for the plain wire cage. Take a look at this beautiful cage from an eBay auction that I found. He has many other styles to choose from.

It has a real asphalt roof and made from dried fir wood with tongue and groove joints.

No nails, glue and screws.
Fully weather treated.

It’s built for rabbits but you could use it for guinea pigs or ferrets too. Optional components to make the cage more fun for you pet make it the must have on your list. Your small pet will be the envy of the neighborhood.

*edited 1/10 not the original picture, that was sold but there are more to choose from.

Cat Climber

Jun 02 2009 Published by under Cats,Products

Problem, cats love to climb so your kitty uses your couch as a tree post racing up and down ruining your favorite nesting spot. Save the furniture buy a cat climber instead, it will save you the cost of a new set of slipcovers.

Cat climbers come in many varieties you can buy high and low; the term the sky’s limit can refer to cat climber, ranging from a few feet high to 5 1/2 feet, higher if you go custom-built. Most are wrapped with sisal or extra strength carpet for scratching. You will find that your cat climber is made with a neutral color palette that goes with any décor.

For the truly crafty person you can build your own using pre-made cat climber plans, naturally if you build your own you can match to your taste. Another alternative would be covering the perch of your cat climber with holiday fabric for the different seasons hey, why not?

Cat climbers may include a hammock, a hiding spot, playful swinging and swiping toys and trees (climbing posts). Or for the more relaxed cat a cat condo with a sleeping hole or two will do, but your little couch cat potato may turn into a wild beast once given the opportunity to explore the nooks and crannies of fully blown kitty deluxe cat climber.

Multi-cats? Get a multi-cat climber, read the fine print, make sure the cat climber you buy supports more than one cat at a time. You don’t want your cat climber to topple over although the say cats land on their feet your plasma TV might be another story. I plan to buy a cat climber for my two cats Sonic and Bella, but I imagine Slinky the dog (who thinks he’s a cat) sneaking his way in there somehow.

Own a condo or plan to buy one? Leave a comment and let me know how your cat likes it, or what type you are considering.  You can find a cat climber at PETCO.com (hint look under cat furniture) or try the Top Pet Pics Auction

PetSafe Pet Dog Glass Patio Door Panel

Jan 27 2008 Published by under Products

For those of you who are fortunate enough to have a sliding glass door I envy you. I get up and let my dog and two cats out about 20 times a day. Extremely inconvenient, what’s worse is when my cats bang on the door when they want in the dog starts barking. Extremely annoying…

Since I live in an apartment I can’t switch out my door for one with a doggie door. Occasionally my pets are nice to me and one goes in while the other goes out. You do realize you spend twice as much time for each pet.

Let me tell you a story…

My parents decided to get a panel door after my sister and I moved out off the house, that is better than a pool don’t you think? (Actually happened to my doctor).

My mom called one day and explained that they bought a doggie door and could I please come home and train my dog to go through it (he was very shy and a little backward) our other dog went through the door no problem..

Now most animals will take no time at all to train to go in and out, one snack ought to do it.

My dog went through the slider after two attempts I guess he just missed me. All was well, my mom and dad were thrilled no more getting up and down, up and down, up and down.

Hey no wonder they bought the door they didn’t have my sister and me to do it for them.

So if you still have children left at home please I beg you as a former child order your PetSafe Panel Doggie Door now and save money to buy a pool after your kids move out.

Dog Greenies

Jan 22 2007 Published by under Products

If you have no clue what a greenie is then you are in for a treat a dog treat that is, dog greenies are an edible cross between and tooth brush and dog bone. You can probably guess what color they are hence the name.

Greenies® come in 5 sizes so you are sure to get the right one for your size dog. Unless you’ve been brushing you dogs teeth since he or she was pup then dog greenies are ideal for help preserving those pearly whites. The recommended serving is 1 a day and dogs go bonkers for them.

Dog greenies are not only good for your animals teeth but they are also nutritious, and apparently taste great too. The last time I was at the vet she told me that my dog needed his teeth cleaned and he would need to be put to sleep for this procedure.

If I had been giving him dog greenies all along I might have been spared this extra expense. Since I’m going to neuter him anyway the vet said he can have his teeth cleaned at the same time.

Cats, I have good news you no need to feel left out, Greenies® also makes Feline Greenies in 8 different flavors (that’s why cat rule you know!) dogs get the 5 sizes, cats get the yummy flavors.

Greenies Good for Cats and Dogs

You can find both Dog Greenies and Feline Greenies online at PETCO.com they have now what is called pill pockets which means you can slip your pet a mickey (a pill or tablet for you really young folks) and they won’t even know it.

Let me know how your pet likes them leave comment.

Anti Bark Dog Collar

Jan 20 2007 Published by under Products

There are times I wish I had an anti bark dog collar. I suppose I’m lucky my dog only barks when there’s someone at the door and I don’t get to many people to the house. Although when the door’s knocked you think I had a pack of wild animals in here. It’s just one little miniature dachshund, he’s small but his bark is loud. The fact that he barks doesn’t bother me, after all he is a dog, and they do that.

The problem is he continues to bark until I get to the door and depending on the visitor won’t shut up. Since I live in apartments his barking could get me evicted. I imagine many people would consider an anti barking dog collar inhumane. After all they don’t put them on folks who talk too much.

Other option to stop your dog from barking is a citronella anti bark dog collar. A citronella spray is aimed towards the nose to distract the dog when they start barking instead of shocking them. Both collars can also work as dog training collars to ward off unwanted behavior.

The house would smell better if I tried the citronella anti bark dog collar. Since I work the dog wouldn’t have to wear the collar until I came home, but it could take a few days before I knew if it was effective. Though he does chase after the cat with evil intent that would be a behavior I would like to avoid (it does get embarrassing when I do have company). If you have a dog whose bark is worse than his bite, you might consider getting an anti bark dog collar. If so check out Top Pet Pics eBay Auction.

Have one already? Or if you buy one I would like to know which type of anti bark dog collar you bought and why. Tell us how it’s going please leave a comment.
